The various types of gas Heating boilers available
Different types of Gas Central Heating Systems are available in the market. Despite the different names basically these systems usually have copper pipework, central heating radiators and a gas gas boiler.
Air conditioning is not a priority for residents of Europe and northern countries as these regions experience cold weather most of the year with short duration summers. Today a good Central Heating system has become a major part of every household, so much so that it is being fitted in all the new houses that are being constructed.
A reliable Gas Central Heating system is important to keep your house warm especially during winter months. Heating your home provides a relaxing and cosy atmosphere. This security in wintertime is possible only if your Gas Central Heating System is foolproof, well maintained and functioning efficiently. It is important to have peace of mind that your Gas Central Heating System is not only practical to use but also safe.
Two kinds of Gas Central Heating Systems are mainly in use; pumped/vented and sealed systems.
Pumped or vented Central Heating systems are most popularly used. Heating systems using the pump or vent process are equipped with a tank to allow for feeding of replacement water and expansion of heated water. Your house gets hot water through the stored hot water tank, it also supplies heat to the central heating radiators. The expansion tank has enough space to allow for the expanding of water as a result of heating. The expansion tank is placed at highest spot to help create water pressure. It heats the house and doubles as the water supply.
A pumped/vented Central Heating System is what most homes probably have, especially those built many years earlier.
A sealed system is now being used in the new houses that are being built. As the name indicates, a sealed system is a an enclosed system therefore no expansion water tanks are needed. The attic has no tanks or piping, the system is completely enclosed and locked, it’s not ventilated, and that has its advantages:.
- The problem of freezing pipes is eliminated.
- As opposed to pumped/vented systems there is no need for maintenance work on tanks or pipes.
- The chance of a leaking water tank is all together absent.
- As there are no open vents, air cannot enter into the system and so the risk of corrosion, air locks and sludge is drastically diminished.
- If necessary, the system can be flushed out under pressure using the main water supply.
A sealed Gas Central Heating System is a packaged unit with all the necessary controls and safety devices. A sealed Gas Central Heating System uses water that comes directly from the main water supply. The main water supply feeds the system directly under pressure.
Pressure variation can be regulated by a pressure vessel holding compressed gas; the hot water is pressurized by a diaphragm which also separates the water from the compressed gas. Pressure buildup in a Sealed system can be relieved by a safety valve which drains out water; and pressure drop is compensated by automatic fresh intake of water via another valve.
As compared to other heating systems, Central Heating systems are cheaper to run. And they provide you with much more control and choice when it comes to your heating compared to any other systems.
